OPULENCE EXTERIOR SEALER

Lignin is a fibrous compound that holds the wood together. When sunlight is exposed on bare wood for a prolonged period, lignin is broken down and it leaves a gray surface. When such wood is exposed to rain, water seeps inside the wood and rots it. Hence it is imperative to keep the exterior wood safe by either painting or applying an exterior transparent stain. While paint seals the wood under an opaque film, the iron pigments called trans-oxides present in the exterior wood stains blocks the effect of sunlight without damaging the wood’s grain. They impart a warm tint, are subtle in color and exhibit the wood grain and the texture neatly. Further, the exterior wood stains are easy to apply and are resistant to peeling off. Sheenlac’s Exterior Penetrative Wood Stains are transparent-type wood stains that can be used both on the exterior and interior woodworks. They contain trans-oxide pigment with suitable binders.

RECOMMENDED USE
ON BARE WOOD

You can choose your favorite tone. Before applying the stain, apply the stain to the discreet area of wood to test the tone you wanted.

Do not stain when the humidity level is high. Also do also stain when the surface is hot.

If the weather outside is of heavy rains, let the wooden surface dry for two or three days after it has stopped raining.

Begin staining the wood that is not placed in the side of direct sunlight. It has to be noted that stains on the wooden surface that are horizontal or south-facing is exposed to more punishing UV rays from the sunlight.

Apply a second coat of wood stain if you prefer a darker hue. You should also apply a second coat in case the wood surface is badly weathered or unfinished.

ON FILM-FINISHED WOOD

You need to understand that penetrating stains can’t go over a film. Hence make sure to thoroughly remove the film-finished wood back to a bare timber.
