Any Primer paint, be it a wood primer or a metal primer, is the first layer of coating that is applied to wood or metal respectively before applying the topcoat.
Wood primer seals the pores and hides the background color of the wood. This is true for hardwood or man-made plywood. Wood primers are highly suitable for woods like Padauk. Trees like Padauk have high oil content and clear wood finish from such trees’ woods are difficult to withstand.
Metal primers are used mainly for imparting corrosion resistance property on the metal surface. They also ensure a proper adhesion of the topcoat paint to the surface.
Both wood and metal primers enhance the durability of paint and impart extra safety to the surface they are painted. They also improve the appearance, if applied as per recommended guidelines.
