Key milestones include pioneering non-alcoholic wood polish in 1971 and introducing HDPE bottle packaging in 1977. Sheenlac launched NC Sanding sealer in 1982 and expanded its retail network across South India in the early 1980s. The company established a state-of-the-art factory in Thirumazhisai in 1991 and formed strategic collaborations with global brands like AkzoNobel Coatings, Italy in 2000.
Subsequent milestones include entering distribution partnerships with Saint-Gobain Abrasives in 2005 and launching new facilities for Wood & Decorative coatings in 2010. Sheenlac ventured into joint ventures with Noroo Coating, Korea in 2013 and Jenson and Nicholson in 2016, expanding its presence in automotive and decorative coatings.

SheenlacBrand Sheenlac, was envisioned and established in 1962 by our founder Mr. John Peter, with the ultimate goal to exceed beyond customer expectations through innovative products of high quality. Assisting him in his enterprising endeavor to make Sheenlac one of the finest Paint companies was our Director of Factories Mr. Paul Peter. He was instrumental in launching non-alcoholic wood polish, an innovative product in the industry. Together as a team, they brought one-of-its-kind innovation in India like packaging the products in HDPE bottles, which underlined the company’s strong presence in the industry.
Jenson & Nicholson Paints Private LimitedJenson & Nicholson Paints Private Limited (JNPL) is a Joint Venture of Sheenlac Paints with Jenson & Nicholson. Jenson & Nicholson established its presence in India, in the year 1922 and the company is considered India’s second oldest paint company. In 2016, Jenson & Nicholson India Limited and Sheenlac collaborated to form the joint venture Jenson & Nicholson Paints Private Limited (JNPL), with the intent to revive the brand and build a viable alternative in the retail Decorative Paint market in India. In April 2024, Jenson & Nicholson Paints was solely acquired by Sheenlac Paints in India.
Sheenlac NorooSheenlac Noroo, a Joint Venture between Sheenlac Paints and Noroo Coatings established Sheenlac’s strong presence in the automotive paint market in India. The joint endeavor with Noroo Coatings, the second largest paint company in South Korea marked Sheenlac’s breakthrough into the challenging and exclusive automotive paint industry. Established in 1962 by Mr. John Peter, Sheenlac is committed to exceeding customer expectations with innovative and high-quality products. The brand name “SHEENLAC” represents lustre (SHEEN) and lacquer (LAC), coined by Mr. Krishna Moorthy and artist Mr. Patrick.
Key milestones include pioneering non-alcoholic wood polish in 1971 and introducing HDPE bottle packaging in 1977. Sheenlac launched NC Sanding sealer in 1982 and expanded its retail network across South India in the early 1980s. The company established a state-of-the-art factory in Thirumazhisai in 1991 and formed strategic collaborations with global brands like AkzoNobel Coatings, Italy in 2000.
Subsequent milestones include entering distribution partnerships with Saint-Gobain Abrasives in 2005 and launching new facilities for Wood & Decorative coatings in 2010. Sheenlac ventured into joint ventures with Noroo Coating, Korea in 2013 and Jenson and Nicholson in 2016, expanding its presence in automotive and decorative coatings.
